Wow, I haven't blogged in while!  I guess I've been busier than I thought.  Here's what I've been up to.

- Girl's Basketball Team.  I took Heather's spot on the team as the assistant coach on a trip to Petersburg. It was a tournament in there so, the A team and the B team both played 3 games each that first day. There were 13 girls, me, and the head coach Dane.  The trip was really fun and I enjoyed hanging out with the girls for the weekend.  I didn't feel much like a coach though.  I didn't know any of the plays they had learned and I was still learning most of their names.  So, I let Dane do most of the coaching and I sat on the bench yelling and cheering them on.  Still fun.  The boat ride there was...interesting.  I'm glad I finally got to go out on the water here, but I did get a little motion sick.  The ride there the driver was going too fast and hitting the waves super hard.  On the ride back, the driver was much nicer and went slower...probably cause there was really high winds so he was being cautious.  It was a little scary that ride back too because it was dark out and all I could really see were the white caps from the HUGE waves.  It was still a pretty cool adventure though.

- Pet sitting/House sitting!  Ryan and Heather went on their honeymoon to Hawaii for the past two weeks (the just got back this past weekend).  So, while they were gone I stayed at their house and took care of their dog Milo.  He's a pretty cute dog...a bit annoying at times, but overall I love him.  We had words a few times but we generally got a long.  I really enjoyed being out at their house also because 1) they have a larger tv (better for football!), 2) they live more in the woods than where I do (the city) so it was really nice to be among the trees, 3) they have two really big windows in their living room that let in a lot of light during the day and I could watch the snow fall nearly every day! and 4) they have a wood stove, which was super cool to have a fire to sit by every night.  I had a great time there at their place and would gladly do it again!

- Thanksgiving!  Brittany and I made our own Thanksgiving dinner!  It was really fun!  Since I had been house sitting and pet sitting we made our dinner out at Ryan and Heathers.  The menu consisted of mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, stuffing, rolls, mandarin salad, and TURKEY!!  I cooked my first turkey!  It turned out pretty well also!  Except, it did take a little longer than expected to cook (I think it wasn't thawed completely when I put it in the oven..ooops).  So, we ended up eating our dinner without the turkey and then just at the turkey when it was finished...a couple hours later.  OH, also...I started my Thanksgiving day by watching the football game!  It started at 8:30 in the morning here in Alaska and I juuust woke up in time for kickoff.  I was glad that the Packers won and kept their winning streak going, but really I would have been happy if either team won.

- Speaking of the Packers.  On Friday, Brittany and I decided to do a little Black Friday shopping (at the 3 stores that were open here in Wrangell) and we saw this vehicle that had a TON of packer stuff on it.  There were giant G's on each side of the car, packer stickers in the window, a packer license plate in front, and the license plate in back actually read PACKER.  It was pretty cool to see that, but then today I found out who owned the car.  I had actually met her and knew her before I saw her car.  I see her all the time when I'm at the gym.  One day I was wearing my packer shirt and she comes up to me and says "10-0 baby!" and gives me big hug!  It was awesome...and a little awkward (don't know her that well).  But anyways, I saw that car outside the gym this morning and saw she was there also and I put the two together and started talking to her about the packers.  She might be a bigger fan the my mom.  She went to the superbowl this past year when the packer's won and got to talk on the phone to some rookie (can't remember who).  She said her mom had met Vince Lombardi and since then she was a Packer fan.  She's a pretty cool lady!

So, that's what I've been up to.  Countdown till I start my adventure home: 2 weeks and 3 days!  Can't wait!!!!  "Maammmaaa I'm coming HOOOOME!!"

OH, I forgot.  (Dad, I thought you'd get a kick out of this)  I bought Hemingway's In Our Time book where he writes a little bit about the Two Hearted River.  The book is a collection of short stories, so I've only read the Two Hearted River one so far.  It was pretty good.  I kept picturing my dad while reading it....the main character is camping and fishing at the Two Hearted.

Okay, that was it.
I want this jacket sooooo bad!!!  http://www.patagonia.com/us/product/womens-waterproof-nano-storm-jacket?p=84235-0-512  WHY does it have to be $300 dollars?!?!  And WHY do I feel like I need this so badly.  It's quite annoying.  Explain this to me Lacey.

Brittany's back!  As much as I enjoyed the apartment to myself, it's really nice to have her back...someone to talk to.  Haha I think I might be annoying her with my talking.  I think I drank too much coffee this morning.

Yesterday I was so productive that today I don't have anything to do.  I wish the pool was open.  I'd go down there and swim some more laps.  I'm feeling a bit lazy today.

I'm really loving all the horror movies on TV this past week.  I've watched sooo many....Halloween, Friday the 13th (remake), 30 days of Night, Prom Night, Twilight, and Casper.  Well, maybe those last two aren't horror.  AND, I'll be watching Paranormal Activity 2 tonight with Chris!!  Has anyone watched the FX show American Horror Story?  There's a marathon on tomorrow of the shows it's had so far.  I think I might watch some of them.  It looked pretty good.

Well, let's hope my day gets more eventful.  I'll be watching the Lions game in a little bit.  GO DETROIT!!
Well, I think I' have been doing pretty good with updating this blog.  I'm on a roll!

So, today was a pretty decent day.  I got to sleep in, which felt really nice.  I did some cleaning, laundry and dishes.  And then I walked down to the pool and swam some laps.  I swam a mile in about 45 minutes.  The pool director pays the lifeguards (me) to swim a mile a week as an incentive to stay in shape.  So, then I walked home and made Tuna Salad in a Popover Bowl for dinner.  YUM!  And then I did some more dishes, more laundry, and more cleaning.  The place looks pretty nice now.

Yesterday at school one of my students further injured his knee.  He had hurt it a few weeks ago during a wrestling practice.  Yesterday, he was just walking down the hallway and his knee bent backwards (probably something with his ACL).  He's supposed to have been wearing his knee brace still but hasn't been for a week or so.  So when he fell, his knee started to swell really fast.  It was about twice the size of his other knee in a matter of minutes.  I hope he'll be okay.

OOOH, my skype date!  It was fantastic and super fun!  It turned out really well.  And, afterwards, we even watched a movie together on Netflix!  Dinner and a movie.  We watched An Officer and a Gentleman.  I forgot how good that movie is!  Chris had never seen and I think he liked it as well.  Our next movie date is to watch Paranormal Activity 2 tomorrow night.  YIKES!  I hope it's not too frightening.  The first one creeped me out quite a bit.  But, a good scare is always fun.

Well, time to skype again.  Goodnight All.

Hey Hey.

Well, Brittany left today to meet her parents in Seattle.  She is coming back Sunday morning, so I'll be home alone for a couple days.  It'll be nice for her to see her parents and it'll be nice for me to have some time alone.

I've got at least one fun thing planned while she's gone.  Chris and I are having a dinner date over skype!  We're going to make the same meal (spaghetti) and then eat together while talking on skype!  Isn't that the best idea!  I think Chris came up with it.  So, I'm excited for that.  It'll be kind of hard with the time difference.  I might end up cooking right when I get home.  Or else, Chris will just be eating kind of late.  We'll see.

Anyone watching Survivor?  Ozzy is sending himself to redemption island!  What a gamble.  What a crazy person.  Also, speaking of shows, anyone watch the new show Revenge?  I like it a lot!  It's quite good.  It's kind of a Monte Cristo type story.  The main girl is pretending to be someone she's not to get revenge on the people who framed her father for murder.  If  you don't watch it, DO IT!!!

Sooo, Halloween is coming up.  Heather said that some people dress up for Halloween and go to school, teachers too.  Heather is dressing up.  The only thing I can come up with is to dress up as a Zumba Instructor.  I don't have much to pick from with my limited clothing selection.  We'll see, maybe I'll come up with something.  Also, speaking of Halloween, I bought some candy for trick or treaters.  I'm not sure if I'll get any at my door since my apartment is down below the main house, but there's a chance if they come from the street below.  Anyways, bought some candy just in case.  I bought a bag that was allllll Reese's candy.  So, here's hoping I get no kids and Brittany and I can eat it all!

Well, time to skype and then bed.  Goodnight!

Saturday, October 22, 2011

I'm frustrated.

Brittany and I moved into our new apartment.  We really like it, except we went from a really large TV (almost as big as dads) to a super tiny one about the size of a laptop screen.  It's okay and I thought I'd be fine with it, but I just found out that I can't hook my Wii up to it.  It doesn't have any place to plug it in.  There's a place on the cable box but I couldn't figure it out.  So, now I brought my Wii all the way here to Alaska and I can't even use it.  Bummer.

On a more happy note, I received one birthday card and one birthday present this week.  Thanks mom, your card made me cry.  Love you.  And thanks to Chris who got me a CD from a band called Halloween, Alaska.  Super weird name but they're pretty cool.  Here's a video I found on youtube of them.  Thanks Chris, love you too.

It's Saturday and I'm going to bed at 10:30.  I love it.  I get to sleep in tomorrow morning, run some errands, go to Ryan and Heather's wedding celebration for all the alaskan friends who couldn't make it to their wedding, and then maybe some birthday celebration stuff with Brittany.  Then Sunday there's a pastor in town so I'll be going to church!  I'm pretty pumped to sing some hymns!  Goodnight!

Sunday, October 16, 2011

Good Morning!  It is a pretty cool to have some football on right when you wake up in the morning.  The Packer's game isn't on but the Lions are!

So here I am watching the Lion's game, drinking some coffee, eating a doughnut, and updating my blog...all in the dark cause Brittany is still asleep.  Tomorrow we'll be moving into the other apartment though!!  It's only a one bedroom but it'll still have a little bit more privacy.  Where we are now is just one open room.  I'm also excited for this new place because it has a stove/oven AND a full size refrigerator!  Woohoo!  Hopefully it won't take us too many trips to move.  I think we can do it all in one trip.  I'm also hoping that today Brittany and I get some major cleaning done with this place here so when we move it won't take us too long.  Yay!  Can't wait!

Last night Heather, Brittany, and I went to see The Help.  It was really good.  I enjoyed it.  I kind of wish I would have read the book before seeing it, but that didn't happen.  It was my first time at the theater here.  It was a bit different.  The chairs you sit in are almost like plastic lawn chairs...but better.  However, not as comfy as real theater chairs.  But, they had real theater popcorn!

I've been in the Christmas mood lately.  I think when I get my paycheck this week I might start some minor Christmas shopping.  I just realized today that I won't be able to participate in any of the after Thanksgiving shopping.  It might be better anyways to just shop online and have everything shipped home, that way I won't have to bring any of it on the plane.  I'm hoping today to buy my plane ticket home for Christmas.  The prices just keep getting a little bit more expensive so I might as well bite the bullet and buy the $864 ticket today.  Also, Mom if you're reading this, I might ask you to send me some of my Christmas movies.

I really love Skype.  I don't know what I'd do without it!  It helps a lot with mine and Chris's relationship.  We can't be near each other, but at least we can see each others faces.  Also, I love skyping with Lacey and my mom.  Casey, if you're reading this, we should do more of it.  The time difference is a little hard though.  I'm always making Chris stay up late talking to me.  Last night we stopped talking at 2am his time....yikes.  Gotta love him.

Alright, I will leave you with a youtube video.  It's from the concert that Mumford and Sons did on Austin City Limits.  Skip forward to time 8:08.  At this point starts the song I'm currently obsessed with, Lover of the Light.  I don't think they've recorded this song because I can't find it on iTunes, but it's super good.  Here it is and goodbye!

Oh yeah, one more highlight.

I beat Chris twice in cribbage. Boom.
Time for another post.

I've been keeping busy here in Wrangell: working at the high school, Zumba classes Monday and Wednesday evenings, and doing a life guarding shift Friday evenings.  Sometimes I really don't like having these commitments in the evenings after working all day int he school.  But it's all been fun and I've been meeting some nice people.  Zumba classes especially have been a lot of fun.  There's a regular crew that's been showing up and they seem to really be enjoying it which in turn make me really enjoy it.  I've been doing the classes in the racquetball room at the fitness center which hasn't been that great.  The sound especially is what bothers me.  However, tomorrow night I'll start doing the classes in the gym at the elementary school.  Hopefully that'll go well and everyone will remember to show up there and not at the racquetball room.

I just had a super awesome trip back home.  I left Wrangell last Tuesday afternoon, spent the night in the airport in Seattle, and the flew to Minneapolis Wednesday morning.  Highlights from the long weekend include....

1.  Finally seeing Chris again face-to-face!  He picked me up at the airport around 1pm and he took me back to his place and we made some pretty delicious Mac N' Cheese (without spaghetti sauce).

2. Minnehaha Falls.  Chris took me to this park, Minnehaha Falls.  It was  pretty neat park set in the middle of the city.  It reminded me a little of Presque Isle.  We walked around for a bit and made it to the falls.  There was an older gentleman playing his guitar with the case set out for tips (yes, chris gave him a tip).  There were quite a few people there too.  It was really nice and I really enjoyed it.

3. Downtown and Dinkytown.  Chris took me to dinner at a restaurant called Annie's.  I loved it!  We shared a chocolate coffee malt (delicious).  Annie's was in a place called Dinkytown, a condensed "town" on campus that had a bunch of restaurants and shops.  THEN, we took the bus downtown and walked around enjoying the lights of the city.  I saw the Mary Tyler Moore statue.

4.  Marquette Bound!  On Friday, Chris and I left for Marquette.  It was about a 7 hour drive.  It was pretty long but well worth it.  The fall colors were awesome and kept getting better as we got closer to the U.P.

5.  Surprising my mom and Casey!  I showed up at home with my mom not knowing I was going to.  The front door was locked and she couldn't hear me knocking.  The dogs were barking non-stop.  So, finally I ended up calling her to open the door.  I also texted Casey that I was home and she was very excited...so excited that she left work early for me!

6.  Family time!  Saturday was spent just hanging out with me family.  Adam and the family came over to visit.  My mom, Casey, Chris, and I took Natalie to the park.  I miss those kids.  Then for dinner, Chris and I went out to my dad's.  I was very happy that my dad made it back from his camping trip to come see me.  I was bummed that I had to spoil my surprise and tell him that I was coming before he left for his camping trip, but it all worked out in the end.

Some lowlights from the weekend include...

1.  Creepy worker at the airport that tried to spark conversation at 3:30 in the morning.

2.  7 hours driving!  Though it was 7 hours I got to spend sitting next to Chris :)

3.  More 7 hours driving.  The drive back to the airport was the worst!  I was bummed the entire drive because I didn't want to leave.

Okay, so there is my extended weekend vacation in a nutshell.  Soon, it less than 2 weeks now, is my birthday!!!  YAY!!!  And, Brittany's birthday is the day before mine and this year we'll actually be able to celebrate our birthdays together!!!  It should be a lot of fun!  Can't wait!  If anyone out there wants to get me a present, ask Lacey.  I gave her a couple ideas...though most were a little expensive.  SO, I will accept donations to my Coming Home For Christmas Fund.  Seriously, it's a lot of money to come home, so any amount would be helpful.

Alrighty now.  I'm pretty tired.  Going to bed now.  Goodnight All!

Hey hey Blog world!  I'm back and writing to you from Wrangell, Alaska!  I recently moved out here to start working as a Paraprofessional in the high school in the Wrangell School District.  But, anyone who reads my blog already knows this.

I've been here about 4 weeks now.  I think I'm getting into the swing of things.  Brittany (my friend and roommate) and I are living in a tiny studio type apartment.  There is no stove or oven and only one bed.  Our friend's Ryan and Heather let us borrow their air mattress which has helped a lot.  There's an apartment available around mid-October that we will be moving into.  It's a one bed room but also a futon couch (a second bed).  It's furnished with pots and pans, dishes, bed, and a washer and dryer.  It'll be pretty nice, especially with a bit more privacy.  One of the big perks about the place we're at now is the gigantic TV.  The other place we'll be moving into has a TV about the size of my computer screen.  Sooooo that'll suck.  But oh well, can't have everything.

I just bought a plane ticket to Minneapolis to visit Chris October 5th through the 9th.  I can't wait!  It's been super difficult to have started our relationship this past summer and then so quickly be separated by distance.  So far the time difference hasn't effected us that bad.  Mostly I just make him stay up late talking to me, which I feel bad about sometimes...  Hopefully the next two and half weeks will go by quickly.  16 more days!

So, this week I start doing Zumba classes at the fitness center in town.  I'm a little nervous about doing it in the racquetball room.  It might be too echoey in there.  Hopefully a bunch of people show up too.  Also, I've started lifeguarding at the pool there, so that's been fun.

LACEY!!  I miss you.  You should come visit Wrangell sometime!  Spring break?!?!  Bring Casey with you when you come.  OR how about Thanksgiving?  Either or would work for me!

Okay, now I'll leave you with some photos...

Brittany and I in the clouds on a mountain.

Sunset at Nemo Point.  BEAUTIFUL!!!

Boyfriend.  Ain't he adorable :)

I love my dog :)

So what if he occasionally chews on my shoes.
Or jumps in my lap while I'm trying to type.
Or nibbles a bit while playing.

He's brings me such joy when I leave work and come home to him!

So what if I have to pick up his poop.
Or that he burps in my face.
Or throws up in the middle of the night?

He is such a happy spirit, it's contagious!

So what if he chases after deer.
Or eats my mom's bird seed.
Or eats dead animals he finds.

Knox is my dog.  And I love him.  My favorite time spent with him would be our evening TV watching, where I lay on the couch enjoying some PBS program and he snuggles next to me (or on top) with one of his chew toys.

PS.  I did not mean for this to look like a poem. Just wanted to share my feelings.

PSS.  Also, this is not meant to make Lacey jealous.  Just wanted to share my feelings.

Wednesday, April 13, 2011

Ok, time for an update.

Here's Knox as of ten minutes ago...

Mmmmm I love him.  I almost freaked out though when I caught him chewing on my Chacos!  Only a little bit of damage.  I'm getting a little worried about his biting.  He greets people that way…yikes.  Not sure how to fix it either.  I guess just keep discouraging him when he does it and hopefully he'll learn.  He's just over 7 months now…a "tween" according to Caesar the Dog Whisperer.

Went down to Texas and saw Lacey!!  That was a blast!  Wish I could spend more time with her and not just a week.

We went to the Rattle Snake Round-Up in Sweetwater.  It was pretty cool, but probably would have been more fun if we went down to the carnival rides.  But oh well…I did eat rattle snake though!

We also did some camping at Abilene State Park.  That was fun and relaxing.

Work here at FLLC is starting to pick up again.  There was a bit of a lull from january to march.  But now we're gearing up for the summer, about 370 campers so far!!  I've been doing a lot of work getting our ACA (american camping association) stuff together since our accreditation is up this year.  LOTS of paperwork for that!  Still, I'll know the ins and outs of the camp rules, so that'll be good.

Just last night I watched this National Geographic documentary called, The President's Photographer: 50 Years in the Oval Office.  LOVED IT!  I'm not sure why I liked it so much (might be because it highlights Barack Obama a lot).  Makes me want to be a photographer for the president.  That'd be sweet to travel with him and sit in on meetings and what not.  Pretty cool.

You can watch the documentary here….http://www.pbs.org/programs/presidents-photographer/

Hmmmmmmmm what else to share…….

OH, I'll be having Strabismus surgery on my eye May 18!  The procedure is kind of disgusting so I'll spare you the details (just google it or youtube if you're interested).  Hopefully that'll fix my wonky eye.

This Friday I'm going to see Peter Pan at NMU's Forest Roberts Theater!  Pretty excited for that.  I'll be going with my mom, my aunt Kathy, and Casey.  Should be a fun girl's night out at the theater!

Ok, last thing to share.  Saw this video on Vh1 Top 20 this past weekend.  I liked it want to share it with you.  Sara Bareilles, Uncharted.  Enjoy All!

Good program tonight on PBS!!!!  (the one and only tv station i get here at camp) Harry Connick Jr in concert!!  He is such a stud.  Right now I'm writing to you while enjoying some Vernors and listening to Harry sing to me.

So, it's been a kind of strange week.  Last saturday I had a headache ALL day.  That sucked.  In an attempt to get rid of it, I took Knox for a long walk (exercise is supposed to get rid of headaches right?  or is that cramps?).  Knox and I went to Glidden Lake just outside of Crystal Falls.  It was great!  I wasn't expecting the trail to be so long (3.4 miles) so I thought I was lost at some points.  But the trail was really nice!  We will definitely be heading back there soon.  After my all day headache, I slept in the next day till 12:30!!  I never sleep in that much!!  I had to force my self out of bed.  I actually woke up at 7:30 to let Knox out and what not and I drank some orange juice....then went back to bed.  Ok, now...no judgments.  The orange juice I drank was 3 weeks past the due date.  IT TASTED FINE!!  Which is why I drank it.  However when I woke up later that afternoon, my stomach felt HORRIBLE!!  I went to work still that afternoon (there was a pastor's theological retreat).  All Sunday night I kept waking up because of the stomachache...and burping.  Then earlier in the morning, 5 or 6 am, I had some diarrhea and threw up.  Sorry if that was too much information.  Anyways, long story short, felt horrible all day monday, but tuesday I felt better.  Maybe it was the orange juice, I don't know.

Today I took Knox to the vet to have a certain operation!  I went and picked him up later this afternoon.  I think he hates me.  He's been very lethargic.  Sleeping a lot.  Hopefully he'll sleep through the night still.  I guess I shouldn't be talking, cause when I got back from work I went and took a nap with Knox and didn't get out of bed till 8 PM!!  Why am I so tired lately?!!?  I hope there's nothing wrong with me.

This friday is the Jr. High Retreat here at camp.  It should be lots of fun.  It going to be a mardi gras party.  I made a mardi gras mask today (so i can teach the kids how to make one...not just for fun).  It's pretty cute.  Lucy's going to pick up some feathers from Michaels, so that'll be great for the masks!  Hopefully this weekend will go smoothly!

Two highlights: 1. Can't wait for next friday when I fly out to Texas to see Lacey!!!! Woohooo!!!  and 2. Just found Heather and Ryan's blog!!!!

I'm going to go finish Harry Connick Jr.'s concert and go to bed.  Goodnight All!!

Sad day.  Found out this morning that the father of a highschooler from in town, and a regular camper here at Fortune Lake committed suicide last night.  I want badly to give her a hug and talk to her, but I have no clue what I would say.  Or, should I say nothing at all?  Mostly though, I want to go hug my own parents and tell them how much I love them.

Please pray for Hannah and her family.

one more video....Mumford and Sons AND The Avett Brothers AND Bob Dylan preforming at the grammys.  the video looks a bit odd cause it's flipped horizontally....so everyone looks left handed.  eh, but you still get the main image.

So sorry I haven't written in a while.  This will probably be a random post of what I've been up to in the past weeks.

I am finding it easier and easier to wake up in the mornings.  I'm not sure why this is.  It could be that it's no longer dark out when I'm waking up (I've been waking up about 6:30-7).  Or it could just be Knox being persistent and pawing at my face to wake me up.  Anyways….woke up this morning and took knox for a walk…before 8 AM!  And now I've got some time to spare before I go to work.  There's a quilting group here this weekend and they have brunch at 10 am.  So, I'll go up there to eat with them (it's baked french toast!!) and then I'm going to clean the rooms in the Adult Retreat Lodge.  I'm not sure how long that will take me, but then I have some more free time till 5:00 when the women eat dinner.

Side note:  I am typing this up in One Note on my computer because my internet is down AGAIN!!  It's super annoying.  So, probably on my way up to brunch I'll stop by the office and reset the router.  Then I'll be posting this when the internet is back.

So, in the past couple of days I've watched A BUNCH of movies.  Here is a small list…
  • Life As We Know It
  • Case 39
  • An Education
  • The Karate Kid (with Jayden Smith)
  • Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood

Maybe this really isn't a bunch of movies, but it feels like it for just a few days.  I liked them all.  I watched Life As We Know It with Casey.  It was cute, pretty much what I was expecting.  Case 39 was a bit disturbing.  I was hoping for a happier ending, but I guess it was good enough.  No scary dreams afterwards, so that was good.  I LOVED AN EDUCATION!!!  It was really good.  It kind of reminded me of the show American Dreams, except it's set in England.  It's on Netflix Instant right now, so go watch it!!  I cried watching The Karate Kid.  It was a happy cry though.  Jayden Smith is super cute in the movie.  He did a good job.  Then I just edDivine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood last night.  I think the movie came out in 2002 and I've been meaning to watch it since, but never did.  So when I saw it on Netflix Instant, I thought Why Not?

I love Netflix.

I started teaching some Zumba classes!!  I lead the classes Tuesday and Thursday evenings.  It's been a ton of fun.  I'm only doing it for 6 weeks right now, but it seems pretty popular I might continue doing it.  This week was my third week doing it, so I'm actually half way through with it.  I've had at least 10 people every class, so it's been a lot of fun!

One of my new favorite songs is January Wedding by the Avett Brothers.  It's so simple and I love it!  It's inspired me to grab the banjo from the Dining Hall and try to figure out how to play it (also Mumford and Sons had part in the inspiration).  I'll let you know how that goes.  In the meantime, here's a video of that song.

Also, this is Radiohead's new single Lotus Flower.  It's a pretty good song, but the video is hilarious.  Enjoy.

ewwww, i think part of knox's tooth came off.  should i put it under his pillow and maybe the tooth fairy will come?! ahhahahaha i'm funny.

i have another follower!!!  casey, two things...1) super cute layout, and 2) holy cow you have a lot of things to accomplish this year.  i didn't know you started blogging!!  welcome to the club!

i took knox for a walk earlier today.  i was on my skis.  knox did a little better this time and didn't bite so much at them.  he did however growl and bark at them.  slow progress.  anyways, during our walk i tried to go down some hills.  they were small hills, but still it was fun.  and i didn't fall!!  i really like cross country skiing.  i wish i were better at it.  i still wobble a lot and am not very fluent with my strides.  but i guess, just like knox, slow progress.  next winter i want to start skijoring with knox.  he'll get to run A LOT and he'll also be connected to me so he won't be able to run away from me.  hopefully the being connected to me will be more good than bad.  i can just see him leading me straight into a tree.  we'll do a lot of training i think.

today i finally came up with some new year's resolutions.

1. Donate to at least one charity per month.
2. Read at least one book per month.
3. Spend my money more wisely.
4. And of course, lose some weight.

That's all.  i'm not quite as ambitious as casey is.

I already found a charity for this month.  it's called Charity: Water.  I saw their add on hulu today while watching a video.  charity: water is a non-profit organization bringing clean and safe drinking water to people in developing nations.  100% of public donations directly funds water projects.  to learn more about this great organization visit www.charitywater.org.  they have a pretty interesting blog.

alright, knox has finally settled down for the night.  i think i'll go find a book and snuggle up to him.  goodnight.

damnit, i hate when Dawson's Creek makes me cry.  i feel like such a loser.

anyways, been a while since my last entry...sorry.  but now since lacey left me, i have my one and only reader interested again.  i enjoyed having lacey home, and am sad now that she's gone.  but, i plan on purchasing my plane ticket tonight to visit her in March!  woohoo!!!

I had a pretty enjoyable evening tonight.  i'd like to share with some photos.

First it started with my dinner...a cup of noodles in my NEW CUP!!!  it's the perfect size!  love it

Then, I went to the grocery store to get some eggs and oil so could finally make the brownie mix in my cupboard.  I used my NEW wooden spoon!!

AND, my new cookware!

Finished brownie with some strawberries i picked up at the grocery store!!!  Yummmmy in my tummy!

Oh Knoxy Poo.  He fell asleep on the couch...love him.

Well, there you have it.  Now, I think I'll head to bed soon and watch Catfish.  Goodnight.
